Bill Reed, 57, and Jan Reed, 55, were killed in the crash of their light plane at the south end of Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands, Washington, on Friday, July 1, at 6:55 p.m. Their three children survived the crash. Quilt-lovers tired walking around at this Saturday’s Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show can hop on a bike “rickshaw” and leave the driving to John Flannery. Flannery, owner of Bend Cycle Cab, is bringing his two hybrid pedal electric pedicabs to Sisters for the first time. They tell the stories of women around the world who keep their families fed and clothed despite miserable conditions.
