    You start with a piece of 12-foot-long, two-inch-diameter bamboo from mainland China, heat treat, split, dry, sand and straighten. That's only the beginning, according to Sisters' own bamboo rod maker, Roger Fairfield. Fairfield, owner of Fairfield Rod Company, has been handcrafting rods for over 12 years. One misstep when working with bamboo and all the hours are for naught.
