    A huge crowd caught a glimpse of past glories over the weekend when the mightiest of horses stepped out from “yesterday” shaking up the arena at Eagle Crest in the 16th Annual Central Oregon Invitational Draft Horse Show.   • Landis sets out on 500-mile trek

    Camp Sherman resident Madeleine Landis has set out on a 500-mile trek along parts of the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trail. “I reached 50 years old and decided if I were going to do this, I better do it now. I wanted something with five and zero in it and a 500-mile trek seemed to fit,” said Landis. Landis was to start from Clairtappaan Lodge in California, a structure her father helped build in the 1930s. A deputy rescued him from his predicament. • A Sisters business reported a theft by an ex-employee. • A two-vehicle non-injury crash sheared off a telephone pole at the ground. • A man reported that his daughter’s ex-boyfriend is harassing the family.   • Camp Sherman fair a hit for fly fishers

    For fly fishermen, Camp Sherman’s annual fly fishing show just keeps getting bigger and better. The Fifth Annual Metolius River Fly Fishing and Bamboo Rod Fair proved to be the largest and arguably the best to date. New features included a public address system and a 7,200-square-foot tent which allowed for hourly video presentations and made room for 55 vendors, which was up from 38 last year.
