  • Chamber will move into old library

    The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce will relocate its Visitors Center and offices to the old library building on the corner of Main Avenue and Spruce Street. The city council voted 4-1 last week to allow the chamber to lease the facility for $750 per month.   • Water problems plague subdivison

    There's not enough water in Squaw Creek Canyon Estates, a subdivison located some five miles north of Sisters. Residents are worried about having sufficient water both for home use and for fire protection. A rationing system has been in effect since July 1 and now some residents want a public meeting to address the fire protection issue.   • Black Crater Fire is spreading

    After 12 hours of relative calm, the Black Crater Fire was again spreading to the north and northeast Tuesday afternoon, July 25, from its location in the Three Sisters Wilderness about 10 miles southwest of Sisters. Firefighters struggled to control the fire blazing in dense, beetle-killed timber and dead and down trees on the south and east slopes of Black Crater.
