  • Lady Outlaws kick off league play with two shutouts

    The Lady Outlaws kicked off league with a 2-0 shutout at Creswell on Tuesday, September 5, and on the road two days later a 1-0 victory over Pleasant Hill (PH). In Tuesday’s soccer action the Outlaws scored back-to-back goals at the 34th and 36th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Sisters was awarded a free kick outside the 18-yard box, and the team used one of the free kicks they’d been practicing.     The Outlaws cross-country team had a strong showing in its first official competition of the season at the Stayton Invitational held Saturday, September 9. Crystal-clear weather and a true cross-country course featuring hills, narrow forest paths, and creek crossings made the meet memorable for 400-plus runners taking part in the 28-team field.   • Outlaws fall in close games

    The Outlaws fell 3-2 in a close contest at home against Mountain View (MV) on Tuesday, September 5, and two days later lost 2-3 at Crook County (CC). In Tuesday’s soccer action, a good-sized energetic crowd gathered to watch the Outlaws in their first home game of the season. The Outlaws were evenly matched with Mt.   • Football squad squashes the White Buffs

    The Outlaws hosted the Madras White Buffs on Friday, September 8, and walked off the field with a 52-27 victory. Prior to the game teams honored the veterans who were in attendance. Madras kicked off to Sisters. After good runs from Justin DeSmet and Tony Gonzalez, Gonzalez scored on a 22-yard run. Reid Woodson’s kick for the PAT was good and the Outlaws quickly went up 7-0.   • Community gathered for harvest dinner

    Farmers and founders, longtime friends and new acquaintances, all gathered together Saturday to celebrate Seed to Table's 10th Anniversary at the Fall Harvest Dinner.     Charles "Chuck" Lindstrom, a man with a love for the great outdoors, departed this world on August 28, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 3, 1958, and lived his life to the fullest. Chuck is survived by his mother, Susan Valenti; his sister, Nancy Lindstrom; his stepfather, Greg Valenti; his uncle, Don Faleris; and his beloved canine companion, Bennie.     Notwithstanding the tragedy of Maui, as the peak wildfire season draws to a close, national woodland firefighters and foresters are breathing a cautious sigh of relief. As of last Saturday, a total of 2.1 million acres have been lost to wildfire as compared to 7.58 million acres in all of 2022.     Sisters City Council came to a 3-2 contingent decision to deny the application of the Sisters Cold Weather Shelter (SCWS) organization for an emergency homeless shelter at 192 W.
