An Albany man was arrested Saturday after he attempted to elude police after a traffic complaint. According to law-enforcement sources, the Deschutes County 911 Dispatch Center received a call of a dangerous driver eastbound on Highway 20 near Innes Market Road. At about 1 p.m. on Saturday. Dispatch was able to determine this call was possibly related to an earlier traffic complaint near the Sisters Rodeo grounds. To the Editor: There has been a dramatic increase in aircraft noise in Sisters Country over the past few months. It sounds like plane after plane is flying over Sisters, creating a dawn-to-dusk drone of noise. Originally only on weekends, the annoying drone is now happening on weekdays as well. This is not due to random private planes transiting the area. Instead it is due to the new skydiver operation at Eagle Airport. A team of firefighters from Sisters is visiting England's Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to learn about some of its groundbreaking techniques and the variety of work it does. They will take part in live fire training, trial ultra-high-pressure lances, compare breathing apparatus, study new search methods and look at different means of ventilation. They say that volunteers make the world go round - and that is certainly true of the libraries at both Sisters Middle School and Sisters Elementary School. The Sisters Schools Foundation awarded over $23,500 in grants to teachers and projects at all three Sisters schools this spring. Since its inception in 1996, the 10-member, all-volunteer Sisters School Foundation board works to have two distributions every year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Robert Louis Stephenson, 90 years old, a Sisters resident, died peacefully on May 8, 2016. Bob was born July 11, 1925, to Roscoe and Kathleen Stephenson in Corvallis.
