  • School offers flight sciences to 'Young Eagles'

    Sisters High School has a new flight sciences course that will introduce students interested in flying to the world of sport aviation. The 14 students enrolled in the class have also been enrolled as "Young Eagles" in the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) training program. As such, they will get a free one-hour flight with a certified flight instructor (CFI) compliments of the EAA.   • Commission approves 'Airport District'

    The annexation of the Sisters Eagle Airport into the city of Sisters took another step toward becoming final with the planning commission's 5-0 vote on Thursday. The commission voted to recommend that the city council add an "Airport District" to the Sisters Development Code, and add the designation of Airport District to the city's comprehensive plan. Ashton Eaton, Olympic gold-medalist and world-record-holder in the decathlon, was in town for two Sisters Movie House showings of the documentary "48 Hours to Fame," which explores the rigors of the two-day, 10-event track-and-field competition.   • Commission okays guitar shop

    In a 5-0 vote Thursday, the Sisters planning commission recommended approval of the application of Preston K. Thompson Guitars to manufacture and sell custom guitars in the annex building next to The Belfry. On Tuesday, October 1, the Outlaws shut out La Pine 11-0 at home, and two days later defeated the Sweet Home Huskies 7-1.     The boys' soccer team defeated the Hawks 10-0 at La Pine on Tuesday, October 1, and two days later beat the Huskies 5-0 at Sweet Home. Sisters holds the No. 1 spot in league with a 5-0 record. In Tuesday's action, the Outlaws held a 2-0 lead at the half. At the 15-minute mark, La Pine somehow managed to score on themselves off an Evan Rickards cross and put Sisters on top 1-0.     Sisters' volleyball team continued their domination on the court this past week with sweeps against Cottage Grove (CG) and Junction City (JC). The Outlaws lead the Sky-Em League with a 6-0 record. In Tuesday's action, the Outlaws beat CG at home with scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-19.
