    Norval Townley Grubb of Portland and Black Butte Ranch passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 28, at the age of 85.  Born March 22, 1922, in Bend, Norv served in the Navy on a submarine in the South Pacific during World War II. An Oregon State alumnus, he moved to Portland in 1946 to begin a 37-year career at ESCO, serving as a vice president. In 1947, he married Virginia Thomas.     Stephen Wariner of Sisters died in a traffic accident in Pyles Canyon outside of Union, Oregon, Friday evening, September 28. Celebration of Life Services will be held on October 20, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel in the Pines, Camp Sherman. Stephen was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, August 9, 1958, to Lee Roy and Norma Wariner.     •A deputy trespassed a man from a Sisters business where he was acting hostile toward employees and scaring off customers. •The Habitat Thrift Store reported the theft of a pair of lamps. •A woman complained that a couple of dogs killed her chickens. •A citizen reported what appears to be a phone scam where callers seek donations in the name of St. Charles Medical Center.     Wildfires have shaped our forests for millions of years. There is not just one fire story; every fire has a different theme depending on the habitat, the fire's intensity, frequency and size. Wildfire does destroy countless numbers of trees which, from the perspective of some people, should have been cut for lumber before they burned.
