  • Forest Service is lighting the 'good' forest fire in Sisters

    Drifting smoke was seen near Camp Sherman last Friday, but all is well, and there is no risk to the area. The U.S. Forest Service has started its controlled burning of forest fuel accumulations to reduce the possibility of wildfires. Piles of debris from the clean-up of natural accumulation, as well as residues from thinning operations and firewood cutting, are being burned.   • Developer is rolling out industrial park

    Three Sisters Business Park has roads, utilities and the beginning of walking paths. Now developer Peter Hall is seeking tenants. Last week, Hall held a meeting for brokers to tour the business park and announce sales incentives, including a trip to Hawaii.   • Snowflake Boutique kicks off holidays

    In its 31st year, organizers of the Snowflake Boutique have decided to try some new things with their traditional craft show. When organizers opened the doors of their annual holiday show last November, they found they were competing with 14 other holiday gift shows. So they got out their calendars and decided to "go back to being the first show in the area."   • Roadside fight leads to meth bust

    Sheriff's deputies arrested David Alan Dugger of Bend for assault and possession and distribution of methamphetamine after pulling him over last week in the wake of a domestic fight. According to sheriff's office reports, witnesses reported seeing a man at the side of Highway 20 near Sisters, kneeling on top of a woman and hitting her in the head.     You people that just have to feed mule deer just don't get it. Mule deer are - and should forever remain - wild animals.
