    When the Deschutes Public Library System board of directors came to town last week (see story, page 13), it gave Sisters Librarian Peg Bermel a chance to do a little bragging on her institution.   • Sonrise hosts celebration of historic events

    Sonrise Christian School is hosting its first Reformation Day Celebration on Monday, October 31, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The celebration is designed to commemorate the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany in 1517, thus beginning the Protestant Reformation.   • Volunteers clean up business district

    They came armed with garden gloves and a few hand tools, some 34 strong to take on what has developed into an unsightly scourge in Sisters — litter.   • Concerns about fifth grade move diminishing

    Sisters Middle School Principal Lora Nordquist and other members of the Fifth Grade Transition Team last week reassured parents who are worried about moving fifth graders into the middle school this fall.   • Runners tune up for district meet

    A fast 2.7 kilometer course was just what the Outlaw cross country team needed for its final regular season race at the McKenzie Invitational held at Blue River on Monday, October 17.   • Warner and Overstreet Wed

    Lindsey Warner, daughter of Pat Warner and Shelley Marsh, and Brandon Overstreet, son of Rob and Becky Overstreet, were wed on June 25 at Sisters Community Church. The bride and groom are both graduates of Sisters High School, Class of 2002. Lindsey currently attends Seattle Pacific University with a major in Psychology and Biblical Studies.   • Fire damages Camp Sherman house

    An early morning fire on Tuesday, October 25, caused extensive damage to a Camp Sherman house. The Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District responded to the call at 8 a.m. The house, located at 13710 Forest Service Road 1419 just south of the Camp Sherman Fire Hall, was unoccupied at the time.
