    Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich by promising to protect each from the other. - Oscar Ameringer I love living in Sisters, it's bucolic nirvana. Once in a while the news seems to intrude, and nothing is more intrusive to me than this long campaign season for the presidency.   • Colorado shooter had Sisters roots

    Authorities in Colorado Springs identified a man who embarked on a shooting spree, killing three people in that town on Saturday, as Noah Harpham. Harpham was killed by police. Harpham, 32, was a 2000 graduate of Sisters High School. He played in a Christian band called Not All Related, which was profiled in a 2002 story in The Nugget (link to story).
