Jan Sims, founder of Hero Quilters, participated in a nationwide quilt group that wanted to do something for soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. She heard about American Hero Quilts, out of Vashon, Washington, a non-profit making patriotic quilts for returning severely injured soldierswho were triaged through Madigan Army Hospital. The duo Beam will play at The Barn in Sisters on Friday, November 18. Isabel and Eli met on the Soul Fire Project (SFP) bus, in San Blas, Mexico, on February 20, 2010. Eli Carlton-Pearson and Isabel Sokol-Oxman travelled for six months together on the SFP bus, which is a cooperative artistic project that survives off street performances on its circuitous journey from Hillsboro, Oregon to Brazil.
