A proposal for paved trails in Sisters Country has generated significant interest and a high degree of controversy, but the money to actually get them built is far from secured. Nighttime preliminary roadwork by Knife River on the Cascade Avenue improvement project has been going great guns in recent weeks. Operation Christmas Child (OCC) has brought joy and hope to over 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries since its inception in 1993, through simple shoebox gifts. To the Editor: In 2003, Crossroads property owners were proposed a 1.63-mile trail following Highway 242, connecting Crossroads to Sisters High School. Crossroads supported this trail to connect at the main entrance on Crossroads Road. A suggestion to connect at one of the four Crossroads emergency fire exits resulted in an end of discussion and no further action. The Sisters High School musical theater production of "Guys & Dolls" wrapped up a four-performance run with a matinee performance on Sunday afternoon. The play created quite a buzz in Sisters as audience members (many repeat viewers) spread the word about the quality of the production. Some time last week, two small pieces were taken from the entry gallery show at Sisters Art Works. The pieces were 8-by-10-inch paintings by featured artist Randy Redfield. According to gallery owner Kathy Deggendorfer, the images were Redfield's signature "Colorfield" work - float mounted in black wooden frames. The Lady Outlaws volleyball team had five players from their squad named to all-league teams, including Nila Lukens and Allie Spear, who were first-team all-league picks. On October 26, Catherine Ann Hinds passed away after a tough battle with breast cancer. Catherine fought with grace, tenderness, and a surprising strength. These qualities exemplified a woman who loved deeply; including her late husband Mike; her two children, Greg Hinds and Lynn Bussing; and her grandchildren, Adam and Santiago.
