    The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire and Ambulance Association are asking the community to donate gifts for needy children of the Sisters community this holiday season. There is a Christmas "giving tree" at Ray's Food Place in Sisters filled with ornaments listing items that less fortunate local children need for Christmas.  New, unwrapped gifts should be dropped off at the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Station at 301 S.   • Magical Voices of Christmas

    For the 13th year, Sisters Rotary Club is presenting its free "Magical Voices of Christmas." The performance is set for Sunday, December 6, at 6 p.m. at the Sisters High School Auditorium. Nathan Woodworth is Master of Ceremonies for the event and will present his sidesplitting 13 Days of Christmas. Other performers include all three Sisters choirs; the Sisters High School Jazz Band and singer Peggy Tehan.   • Open house features pet photos

    It's a Sisters tradition. Folks turn out to Sisters Art Works each December to enjoy displays of local arts and crafts, share a little holiday spirit with friends and get photos of their beloved pets taken with "Santa Paws." This year's Sisters Art Works Open House is set for Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pet Photos with Santa runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Photos are $10 each, and proceeds benefit The Nugget's Furry Friends Pet Food Drive.   • Becki Neal closing doors of Sisters salon

    After 31 years of cutting hair in Sisters, Becki Neal is calling it quits - sort of. "I'm closing the doors on B-J & Friends (salon) and I'm going to work at Bliss one day a week," Neal told The Nugget. That one day a week will allow Neal to keep serving a clientele that has become a group of friends. "I love my clientele," Neal said. "I've been doing it for 31 years, and they're my friends.     •A deputy reunited a missing pit bull with its owners. •A 57-year-old man was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. •A deputy trespassed some young panhandlers who were hitting up convenience store customers. •A golf cart was found abandoned in the area of Peterson Ridge Road.   • Making do

    Last month, while rolling into Fields from Denio, Nevada, my wife Sue and I decided to stay overnight so I could have one of those deee-licious cheeseburgers for breakfast for which Fields is so famous (I wasn't disappointed!). At dusk we were surprised to see a kettle of turkey vultures coming in to roost in the cottonwoods right across the road of the motel and restaurant.
