    To the Editor: I am the chairman of the Kiwanis Food Share to provide the certificates for a Christmas dinner. We have worked together with the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Department for many years. This year, due to COVID-19, things are a little different. The Fire Department is not accepting applications after December 11, so that they will have time to get the gifts for children done in time for their distribution.   • County responding to surge in COVID-19 cases

    As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the region and across the state, Deschutes County Health Services reports that case investigation and contact-tracing teams are currently not able to contact all residents who test positive for COVID-19 within 24 hours. Daily case reports hit a record on Friday, December 4, with 129 reported. Sisters cases stood at 92 on December 2, up from 78 a week before (cases are broken out by zip code on a weekly basis).   • Police investigate poaching incident

    Oregon State Police are investigating a poaching incident that occurred near Sisters earlier this fall. They are seeking public assistance to solve the case. Poachers killed a bull, a cow, and a spike elk east of Sisters on or about October 28 and Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife troopers are looking for information leading to the culprits.   • Police shoot, kill Bend man after chase that led through Sisters

    A man suspected of two armed robberies in Bend was killed in a confrontation with police on Highway 22 in Linn County after a chase that ran through Sisters and over Santiam Pass. On Tuesday, December 8, around 10:15 p.m., Bend Police responded to 911 calls of an armed robbery at Dutch Bros.     Despite the disruptions of a global pandemic that have upended the school year for Sisters students, parents are seeking a way to provide traditional grad night festivities for Outlaws seniors.
