Thrive Cooking Tutorial

On October 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sisters Library all are invited to attend a free cooking tutorial "Holiday Foods for Health." Samples, recipes, and door prizes will be included. For registration, call 541-948-6628.

Free Pet Food

Volunteer Tutors Needed

Candidate Town Hall

Sisters Halloween Parade

Halloween Parade is sneaking up on us! Children from ages 1-10 (and their parents/caregivers) are invited to gather at Fir Street Park, corner of Fir and Main, to trick or treat around town. Costumes required for children! First group leaves at 3 p.m. Pre-registration forms are at Sisters Library and SES. Please bring non-perishable food items for the Sisters Food Bank. Dementia Caregivers Group

A free support group for caregivers of those suffering with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia takes place the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall. Celebrate Oktoberfest with a live band, brats and all the fixings, no host bar and a fun auction. Tickets include food and will be available at the door for $30 each. The 43rd Annual Snowflake Boutique will be on Friday, November 2 from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Deschutes County Fairgorunds and Expo Center, Redmond. Sisters Family Aglow Lighthouse

Health Insurance Counsel for Seniors

The Council on Aging of Central Oregon will offer free Senior Health Insurance Benefits Association (SHIBA) counseling sessions during the upcoming 2019 Medicare enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7, 2018. Black Butte Ranch RFPD Meeting Location Change

Due to construction at the Black Butte Fire Station, the October 25 meeting of the Black Butte RFPD will be located at the Black Butte Ranch Administration Building, South Sister Room. Meeting time is 9 am. Call 541-595-2288 for info.

Support for Caregivers

A free support group for those who provide care in any capacity meets at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 386 N. Fir St. at 10:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month. Info: 541-771-3258.

Tai Chi/Balance Sessions

Sisters Drug hosts free adult fitness and health sessions in the Ray's Food Place community room, the first and last Thursday each month, 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. Sessions are based on the STEADI Program, to reduce adult injuries from falls. Tai Chi has been shown to improve balance and strength, helping to accomplish this. For info: 541-549-6221.

CPR and First Aid Class

Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD will offer the AHA "Heartsaver" CPR/AED class on Saturday, October 27 and the First Aid module on Sunday, October 28 at the Sisters Fire Hall. The cost is $30 which includes a student workbook and completion card. DLT Walk & Hike Series

Deschutes Land Trust volunteer naturalists lead free walks and hikes in small groups. Upcoming walks include October 19 from 10 a.m. to noon along Spring Creek near the Metolius River; October 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. fall hike at Camp Polk Meadow Preserve; October 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Summit Loop Trail at Smith Rock State Park. Senior Luncheons & More

Operation Christmas Child

National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child is November 12-19, 2018! Since 1993, Samaritan's Purse has delivered 157 million shoebox gifts to children affected by war, poverty, disease, famine and disasters in more than 160 countries. Sisters Kiwanis takes donations of antiques & vintage jewelry throughout the year for its annual Antique & Collectibles Sale, held on Saturday every Memorial Day weekend.
