Quilt Show Saturday
The 43rd annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show takes place Saturday, July 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the streets of Sisters. For more information on the show go online to sistersoutdoorquiltshow.org or call 541-549-0989.

Friends of Metolius Walk

Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, enjoy a walk along the Metolius River with amateur botanist David Miller; he'll share his knowledge of the trees and plants in this habitat, helping you to identify many of them. The walking distance is about 2 miles. Children are welcome, but please, no dogs. Meet near the Camp Sherman Bridge fish viewing platform. Questions? Call 541-550-1441.

​Historic Quilts on Display

Two historic quilts made by early Sisters quilting guilds will be on display on Saturday, July 14, during the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in the Sisters Library community room. There will also be a limited number of booklets available containing photos and biographical information about the quilters. The special exhibit is presented by the Three Sisters Historical Society. Homeless Count Results

The community is invited to the Sisters Library on Wednesday, July 18 at 5 p.m. when the Homeless Leadership Coalition presents data from the annual January Point in Time homeless count in Sisters. Hear results gathered by volunteers at the Food Bank, FAN, and the Cold Weather Shelter, plus additional information. There will be a time for discussion and Q&A. Rotary Hoedown!

The Sisters Rotary Hoedown is set for Saturday, July 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 67480 Cloverdale Rd. Join Rotary and four other nonprofits (Circle of Friends, Seed to Table, SHS Flight Science and Band of Brothers) to dance, eat, drink, play and fundraise. There will be silent and live auctions and music by Dry Canyon Stampede. Tickets are $20 (kids under 12 free) from any of these nonprofits or online at sistersrotary.org. Lunch in the Garden

See quilts at the Sisters Community Garden while enjoying lunch on Thursday, July 12, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Enjoy a delicious fresh medley of three salads with bread, beverage, and cookies for just $10. This is the nonprofit garden's annual fundraiser. Turn off Camp Polk to the Sisters Airport; the garden is 1/4 mile beyond it on the left. For additional information, contact Lisa 541-390-9025.

Library Book Sale Saturday

What's a snuggly quilt without a great book? The annual Friends of the Sisters Library Book Sale takes place at the library Saturday, July 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All books will be priced at $1 or less! For additional information contact Kathy Campbell, 541-912-0750.

Stars Over Sisters Star Party

Learn about the night skies! Stargazers are invited to gather at the Sisters Park & Recreation District building on Saturday, July 21 at 9 p.m. for a free presentation and slide show. Donate Items to Annual Sale

The Three Sisters Lions Club is taking donations of clean, unbroken, salable items for their annual sale, July 19-22. You may drop off items on Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. next to XPress Printing, behind Les Schwab. (Please, NO unattended drops; and no large furniture, appliances, or electronics.) Quilt Week Breakfast

This week through Friday, July 13, breakfast is available from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at St. Edward the Martyr Catholic Church. A daily special is $10 with Continental breakfast for $4. Prepared by women of the Altar Society, t his is their largest fundraiser of the year. Quilt Raffle for FFF

This year's fundraising quilt for Furry Friends Foundation, designed & created by Valerie Fercho-Tillery, is on display at 204 W. Adams Ave. #109, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will be at Fir Street Park on Quilt Show Saturday, July 14. Tree Yoga with Land Trust

One-Act Play in Sisters

On Sunday, July 22, Silent Echo Theater Company will present "In a Barbie World," a one-act play by Bend playwright Laura Lee Coffman. Performances are at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. on the grass next to Hood Avenue Art. Service & Picnic in the Park

Sunday, July 22, Vast Church is hosting a family picnic and worship service to raise funds for Hope Africa International. Learn about what's happening with Hope Africa and how you can help vulnerable children in Uganda. Art in the Library

Information for Seniors

Council on Aging of Central Oregon has a staff member at the Sisters Park & Recreation District building every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are available to provide information and resources to seniors and assist with issues or questions. For additional information call 541-797-9138.

Veterans Meetings

The Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86 will have their next meeting at Sisters City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1. Cribbage Time Change

Senior Luncheons & More

Adults age 60 and older are invited to join the Sisters Senior Luncheon. Lunch is served every Tuesday at Sisters Community Church with a $4 suggested donation. Save your art for donation! This will be the second year for a Friends of the Sisters Library fundraiser, the Annual Pre-Owned Art Sale. Consider saving your treasures for this event. Mark Kroos at the Library

At noon on Tuesday, July 24, Mark Kroos will perform at the Sisters Library, playing his two-necked guitar. Kroos is one of the few artists who tour with this unique instrument. All are invited to this free presentation. For more information call the Sisters Library at 541-312-1072.

Dementia Caregivers Group

A free support group for caregivers of those suffering with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia takes place the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall. Sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, meetings provide emotional, educational, and social support. Call 800-272-3900 or go to alz.org/oregon.

City to Award Grants

The City of Sisters seeks to award grants to nonprofit community groups and other entities that meet the criteria for the 2018-19 fiscal year, beginning 7/1/18. The City will award up to a total of $20,000 in grants for Sisters community projects. Submit a Community Grant application (on the City's website or at City Hall) and letter of interest by Friday, July 27, to the attention of Kerry Prosser, City Recorder. Questions? Career Funds Available

Applications are available for the Sisters Kiwanis Career Opportunity Fund to help adult residents of Sisters establish an occupational path. You may pick up forms at the Kiwanis House, corner of Oak Street and Main Avenue between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and during regular hours from the Sisters Habitat for Humanity office.
