Homeless Count Results
The community is invited to the Sisters Library on Wednesday, July 18 at 5 p.m. when the Homeless Leadership Coalition presents data from the annual January Point in Time homeless count in Sisters. Hear results gathered by volunteers at the Food Bank, FAN, and the Cold Weather Shelter, plus additional information. There will be a time for discussion and Q&A. Child Car Seat Clinic

The Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD will hold a free clinic on Friday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sisters Fire Hall (301 S. Elm St.) to inspect and educate caregivers on how to install and properly use their child safety seats, including booster seats. No appointment is necessary. Come in to let staff assist in making sure your car seat and booster seat are being used properly. For more information call 541-549-0771.

Rotary Hoedown!

The Sisters Rotary Hoedown is set for Saturday, July 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 67480 Cloverdale Rd. Join Rotary and four other nonprofits (Circle of Friends, Seed to Table, SHS Flight Science and Band of Brothers) to dance, eat, drink, play and fundraise. There will be silent and live auctions and music by Dry Canyon Stampede. Save your art for donation! This will be the second year for a Friends of the Sisters Library fundraiser, the Annual Pre-Owned Art Sale. Consider saving your treasures for this event. Quilt Raffle for FFF

City Election Materials

Three City Council positions will be open on the Nov. 6 General Election ballot; the terms of Asson, Connolly, and Esterman expire 12/31/18 (and they're eligible to re-apply). You must be registered to vote in Oregon and a resident of the city of Sisters for 12 months preceding the election. Pick up materials at City Hall starting May 30. Annual Fundraising Sale for Three Sisters Lions Club

It's the 8th annual event! Don't miss the bargains at the Three Sisters Lions Club annual Yard Sale to take place Thursday through Sunday, July 19-22. Hours Thursday through Saturday are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale is located at the west end of Main Avenue, next to Bright Spot Juice & Java and Sisters Car Wash. Stars Over Sisters Star Party

Learn about the night skies! Stargazers are invited to gather at the Sisters Park & Recreation District building on Saturday, July 21 at 9 p.m. for a free presentation and slide show. Service & Picnic in the Park

Sunday, July 22, Vast Church is hosting a family picnic and worship service to raise funds for Hope Africa International. Learn about what's happening with Hope Africa and how you can help vulnerable children in Uganda. Mark Kroos at the Library

At noon on Tuesday, July 24, Mark Kroos will perform at the Sisters Library, playing his two-necked guitar. Kroos is one of the few artists who tour with this unique instrument. All are invited to this free presentation. For more information call the Sisters Library at 541-312-1072.

CPR and First Aid Class

Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD will offer the AHA "Heartsaver" CPR/AED class Saturday, July 28 and the First Aid class Sunday, June 29 at the Sisters Fire Hall. The cost is $30 which includes a student workbook and completion card. Information for Seniors

Council on Aging of Central Oregon has a staff member at the Sisters Park & Recreation District building every Monday in July, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are available to provide information and resources to seniors and assist with issues or questions. Info: 541-678-5483.

City to Award Grants

The City of Sisters seeks to award grants to nonprofit community groups and other entities that meet the criteria for the 2018-19 fiscal year, beginning 7/1/18. The City will award up to a total of $20,000 in grants for Sisters community projects. Submit a Community Grant application (on the City's website or at City Hall) and letter of interest by Friday, July 27, to the attention of Kerry Prosser, City Recorder. Questions? The Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86 will have their next meeting at Sisters City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1. Friends of Metolius Walk

On Saturday, July 21 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., enjoy a Bird & Flower Walk along the Metolius River with Oregon Master Naturalist Carol Wall, exploring the ways numerous birds live in the habitat. One-Act Play in Sisters

On Sunday, July 22, Silent Echo Theater Company will present "In a Barbie World," a one-act play by Bend playwright Laura Lee Coffman. Performances are at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. on the grass next to Hood Avenue Art. Senior Luncheons & More

Career Funds Available

Applications are available for the Sisters Kiwanis Career Opportunity Fund to help adult residents of Sisters establish an occupational path. You may pick up forms at the Kiwanis House, corner of Oak Street and Main Avenue between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and during regular hours from the Sisters Habitat for Humanity office. Music in the Garden

All are invited to enjoy live music at the Sisters Community Garden on Monday, August 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. Snacks and lemonade will be provided (bring a chair and, if you prefer, your own beverage).
