Amy Helm to shine her light on folk festival stage
Amy Helm, a singer-songwriter with influences of Americana, country, blues and gospel will be returning to Sisters as a performer at the Sisters Folk Festival.

Helm comes from rock-and-roll royalty, being the daughter of The Band's drummer and singer, Levon Helm. But she has made a name for herself playing in a number of bands over the years, since she was 14 years old.

Annual BBR event celebrates art in magnificent setting
The local community celebrated the arts on a spectacular weekend in a magnificent setting in the annual Art at the Ranch event at Black Butte Ranch.

On Friday evening, August 31, the annual artist reception and silent auction held at Black Butte Ranch (BBR) Lodge kicked off Art at the Ranch. The BBR Art Guild has been supporting art in Sisters schools with scholarships from the proceeds of the annual show for over three decades.

Quilters earn national recognition
East of the Cascade Quilters (EOCQ) in Sisters was invited by the U.S. Forest Service to send 15 Christmas and/or Western-themed tree skirts to go inside Federal building lobbies in Washington, D.C. Each of the quilted tree skirts will be labeled with the maker's name, city, and state.

Celtic band will close concert series
The Celtic band Altan is the third and final installment of the Sisters Folk Festival Summer Concert Series sponsored by First Interstate Bank.

Altan is known worldwide for their traditional Irish sound. Their sound varies from sensitive and touching old Irish tunes to hard-hitting Irish jigs. Altan has danced away audiences all the way from Donegal to Tokyo and all the way to Sisters.
