    The Outlaws boys tennis squad played at Mountain View on Monday, May 3, and two days later hosted part of Summit’s JV team. On Monday, the Outlaws played without No. 1 singles player Nate Weber. Sisters had three players rotate through singles and doubles sets against the lower half of Mountain View’s varsity players.     The boys tennis team hosted Stayton on Tuesday, April 27, and won three of their matches. Due to a short roster, Sisters defaulted five matches, and suffered a 3-5 team loss. On Friday, the Outlaws traveled to Woodburn for their final league match of the season.     The Lady Outlaws earned a 5-3 win at Stayton on Tuesday, April 27, and at home on Thursday defeated Corbett 3-1 to improve their record to 5-3. On Friday Sisters played host to Woodburn and lost the match 2-6. At Stayton on Tuesday, freshman Juhree Kizziar (No. 1 singles) defeated Rachel Ptacek 6-2, 6-2.     The Lady Outlaws posted two wins this past week; a 5-3 victory over the Lady Buffs at Madras on Tuesday, April 20, and a 5-3 win at North Marion three days later. Sisters won three singles and two doubles matches on Tuesday against Madras. Juhree Kizziar did a tremendous job at No.1 singles. She dominated play on the court and blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0.     The Outlaws defeated North Marion 3-2 at home in Sisters on Friday, April 23, for their first win of the season. Sisters came out on top in three close singles matches. Dexter Payne (No. 2 singles) and Jaxon Barry (No. 3 singles) both won in long, grueling, three-set matches. Payne beat Alex Farren 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.     The Lady Outlaws kicked off their season with a 5-3 win at home over Estacada. Two days later they fell 1-7 at Cascade, and on Friday at home against Molalla they lost 1-7. In Tuesday’s match against Estacada, Sisters got wins at all four singles spots, the fourth by default. They also earned a win at No. 2 doubles.     The Outlaws girls tennis squad is expected to be very successful in league tennis competition. Sisters returns several talented, experienced players this year, and there are several strong new additions. The season has been cut down to six short weeks, with an average of three matches each week. At the conclusion of volleyball, seniors Sophia Silva and Ellie Rush will move right into tennis.     The Outlaws tennis players traveled to Estacada on Tuesday, April 13, and a day later hosted the Cascade Cougars. On Friday, they wrapped up their week with a match at Molalla. The Outlaws only have six players, so the younger ones are getting a lot of time on the court. Nate Weber easily won his singles match against Avery Dryden, 6-2, 6-0, in Tuesday’s match at Estacada. Dryden is newer to tennis and couldn’t handle Webers’ pace and shot-making. Nate lost two games in the first set due to just settling back into the game.... Full story

    The Outlaws football squad honored their seniors prior to their game against La Pine on Friday, April 2. Senior players include Hayden Sharp, Hunter Spor, Garrett Vohs, Nate Weber, Cameron Wessel, Nathaniel Alvarez, Hudson Jones, Adam Rollins, Dillon Tucker, Collin Fischer, Camden Froehlich, and Will Grace.     The Outlaws boys tennis squad graduated seven seniors last year, and this year are looking for more players to round out their roster. Only two varsity players return to the squad — seniors Nate Weber and KJ Sweet. Weber is back for his final year. He earned a trip to state as a sophomore singles player, and won a match in the consolation round. Coaches are hopeful that Nate will improve on that this year.     The boys tennis team is looking for more players to round out their roster. They currently just have five signed up, and only two with previous tennis experience. Anyone interested can sign up at www.familyid.com and, if a student is already involved in a sport, the information will automatically transfer. There are long delays for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists wanting to cross the highway, or for vehicles wanting to turn left onto or off the highway.     In response to the spike in COVID-19 cases around the state over the past month, the Oregon Schools Athletics and Activities Association (OSAA) announced last week that it will further condense the competitive seasons planned for this school year — down to six weeks apiece for all sports and will move winter sports to late spring.     As Ruth Peterson sat in her comfortable Black Butte Ranch home one week before her 100th birthday, her second husband, Jim Gibbons, 92, said that when he met her for the first time she was playing tennis at age 72 and “didn’t look a day over 39.” The couple just celebrated their 10th anniversary.     The OSAA (Oregon Scholastic Activities Association) announced a big change to the 2020-21 high school sports seasons in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision came following an executive session on Wednesday, August 5.
