    Stewart was born April 25, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, and after a life well lived, passed away December 29, 2021 in Bend, at the age of 86. Stewart was raised in Southern California by his parents, Louis and Fanny Weitzman. This is where his lifelong love of education, hard work, and cars started.     The boys tennis team has hit the midway mark through the season, and the four young players that have dedicated themselves to learning the sport are getting better with each match played. Sisters has played in seven matches, and the focus has been to get players as much experience as possible.     The Lady Outlaws tennis team posted a 5-3 win over Madras at home on Thursday, April 14, and improved their conference record to 2-1, and are 5-4 overall. It was a cold day with intermittent snow flurries, which made for difficult play. The team stayed positive, cheered for their teammates, and walked away with a sweep in singles play, and also a win at No. 4 doubles.     The Lady Outlaws lost 3-5 in a hard-fought match at home against Cascade on Thursday, April 7, but a day later they rebounded with a 7-1 win at home against Henley. In Thursday’s match the Outlaws’ top three singles players won. In the No. 1 spot, Juhree Kizziar had control from start to finish and blanked Kyra Arneson 6-0, 6-0. The final score was 4-4 and so the winner came down to most sets won, with Sisters coming out on top 10 sets to 8 sets. The following day the Outlaws fell 3-5 in a match at Redmond.     The Lady Outlaws opened their season with a 1-8 loss at home against Ridgeview on Monday, March 14. Later in the week they had back-to-back matches; a 3-5 loss at home against Caldera on Wednesday, and a 6-2 road win at Crook County on Thursday.     Following the popular Ugly Sweater Run in December, race director Kelly Bither is at it again with a race to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.     The boys tennis squad currently has four players, and all are fairly inexperienced. The team will welcome any new players who would like to join and learn the game. There will be no cuts, and everyone is guaranteed to earn a varsity letter.     Riley McHugh and Georgie Scott recently won the mixed doubles 4.0 level Gold Medal at the 2021 USA Pickleball Pacific Northwest Regional Championship in Boise, Idaho.     Freshman Juhree Kizziar made a good showing at the girls state tennis tournament held in Roseburg on May 17, and made it to the quarterfinals before she dropped her last match. Kizziar defeated senior Allya Sierra 6-2, 6-1, in her first-round competition. Kizziar started a bit slow and dropped the first two games, but came back strong and won six games in a row to win the first set.     Nate Weber wrapped up his senior year with a fourth-place finish at the 4A state tennis tournament held Monday, May 17, at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center, and Tuesday at Marist High School.     Richard Oscar Carlson died March 1 in Sisters, from COVID-19. He was 94. Carlson was born February 25, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Oscar and Faye Carlson, a banker and an educator. He was married to Barbara Nelson from 1948 through 1972, and to Joanne Kitchel from 1975 until her death in 2016. The Carlsons settled in Sisters for retirement in 1987.
