    The Lady Outlaws soccer squad logged an 8-0 shutout at home against Santiam Christian on Tuesday, October 10, and two days later they beat Elmira at home 8-1. Their defense has been stellar; they are the No. 1 defense in the state with only four goals scored against them.   • Areas closed to protect raptor nests

    The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will seasonally close six areas in Central Oregon to safeguard habitat for federally protected raptors. These annual seasonal closures will protect the habitat of bald eagles, golden eagles, and prairie falcons during breeding and nesting periods.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad crushed Harrisburg on the road on Thursday, October 5. They swept the Eagles 25-12, 25-10, and 25-11 to push their league record to a perfect 8-0, and an overall record of 17-1. Harrisburg struggled to get into their offense due to tough serves by the Outlaws, who finished the night with a total of 10 team aces.     The Outlaws traveled to Creswell on Friday night and hammered out a decisive 41-6 victory against the Bulldogs. Creswell received the opening kickoff and Calvin Parker recovered an early fumble to set the Outlaws up for a great start. The Bulldogs’ defense held strong and Sisters wasn’t able to convert their fourth-down attempt deep in Creswell’s territory. Sisters forced the Bulldogs to punt and got back to work.     The Outlaws boys soccer squad served up two strong performances on the pitch this past week — an 8-0 win on the road at La Pine on Tuesday, October 3, and an 8-0 win at home two days later against Crosshill Christian.     In cross-country, Sisters placed four girls in the top eight on the way to winning the Regis/Stayton Invitational held Thursday, October 5 at Stayton Middle School.     Sisters has a hidden gem for those who like to test their skills on two wheels. Bike Park 242 is located just off the McKenzie Highway (242) adjacent to the Sisters Park & Recreation Coffield Center, at the west end of the Sisters High School parking lot.     Cool fall weather greeted just over 200 runners and walkers at the second annual GiddyUp Run organized by Kelly Bither of RunSistersRun, held Saturday, September 23 at Pole Creek Ranch.     In volleyball the Lady Outlaws started their week at home with a sweep (26-24, 25-16, 25-15) against the Creswell Bulldogs. Two days later they made the long road trip to Siuslaw, and quickly swept the Vikings with scores of 25-10, 25-16, and 25-9.     The boys soccer squad snapped their four-game losing streak with a dramatic game that ended in a 3-1 victory on the road at East Linn Christian Academy on Wednesday, September 20.     The Outlaws football squad soundly defeated the La Pine Hawks on the road this past Friday night. Despite the fact that the squad had a difficult week with numerous players out with injuries and sickness, they prevailed in a final score of 40-12.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad remains undefeated so far this season, as they continued to crush league opponents last week. They hammered Harrisburg at home on Tuesday, September 12, in three straight sets with scores of 25-2, 25-9, and 25-7.     Folks can fill their card — and the coffers of the Outlaws athletic program — at the first Bingo Night of the season at Sisters High School, Wednesday, September 27. The Sisters High School Black and White Club is the primary source of funding for the Sisters School District Athletic Department.
