    The boys lacrosse squad fell 10-5 to Bend's JV team on Wednesday, April 26, and two days later lost 23-7 on the road at Corvallis. Sisters played against Bend's JV team on Wednesday to make the contest a better match-up. The Lava Bears' squad is loaded with players who have not only played from a very young age, but play very physical, especially with their stick checking.   • Boys lacrosse tallies win over Burns

    The boys lacrosse squad matched up last week against Burns, a team similar in size compared to the 5A and 6A teams both squads havebeen playing against. The Hilanders' roster was small like the Outlaws, with 10 available players compared to Sisters' 11, so coaches agreed that an eight vs. eight game would be more appropriate than the usual 10 vs. 10.   • Getting strong in Sisters

    Sisters youth are preparing for a strength competition in Bend on July 29. A lifting team is forming through Level 5 Barbell Club and raising funds so that all those interested in competing may do so. According to Ryan Hudson of Level 5, the club grew out of some of the most motivated youths in the strength conditioning program for Outlaws football, for which he is the coach.     Junior Devin Coverdale and freshman Trent Gordon tied for a fourth-place finish as individuals at the Quail Run Invitational held in La Pine on Monday, May 1. The boys are the only two players on the golf team, and both have improved their scores greatly over the course of the season. Coverdale and Gordon both finished their round with a score of 84. Ironically they scored the exact opposite scores on the front and back nine; Coverdale a 45 on the front and a 39 on the back, and Gordon a 39 on the front and a 45 on the back.... Full story

    The boys tennis squad lost their match against The Dalles on Monday, May 2. Coach David Rowell switched up the lineup for the Outlaw players in their match against the Riverhawks. Dominic Pulver and Jude Parzybok paired up as the No. 1 doubles team and faced Paul Kelly and Paul Capek, the doubles team that took third at State last year and are in the running to place well again this year.     The Lady Outlaws tennis squad crushed The Dalles in a final score of 7-1, at home on Tuesday, May 2, under beautiful and sunny weather conditions. Sisters is 5-1 in conference play and 9-4 overall. Sisters' singles players were once again a force to be reckoned with.     The girls lacrosse squad matched up against Summit’s JV team on Wednesday, May 3. It was a hard-fought contest that was tied 5-5 at the half and finished knotted up at 10-10. Bailey Robertson had an outstanding game. She took three shots on goal and everyone hit the mark.     Just like the spring weather, track-and-field athletes showed notable improvements as the Outlaws’ team entered the month of May with two local meets last week. Wednesday, May 3, the Outlaws competed against Caldera and Redmond on the Panthers track, which turned into a personal record fest for both the boys and girls teams.     Outlaws pitching and defense remained tough, and the bats came alive as the Outlaws took it to Elmira in a three-game test last week. The Sisters baseball team traveled to Elmira on Tuesday and came home with an 8-3 victory. Patrick Silva pitched five innings, not allowing a run, and Landen Scott pitched the final two innings.     Sisters Park & Recreation District's (SPRD) Bike Park 242 is getting a refresh this spring. The park features jump lines, pump tracks, and a drop zone and is great for riders of all abilities wanting to improve their skills. Snowy winters and dry summers mean the bike park needs consistent maintenance. Maintenance involves moving tons of dirt and is very difficult to do by hand.     The girls lacrosse squad matched up against the Summit Storm twice this past week and suffered losses in both matchups. Sisters fell 4-17 at Summit on Monday, April 24, and four days later lost 4-17 at home. On Monday, the Lady Outlaws played without any subs, while Summit boasted a roster of 22 varsity and 26 JV players they could draw from.     The boys tennis squad matched up against Stayton at home on Tuesday, April 25, and two days later they played at home against the Madras White Buffs. Jude Parzybok was the lone Outlaw to win both his matches this past week. On Tuesday against Stayton, Dominic Pulver and Jude Parzybok both tallied wins. Pulver defeated Spencer Dirkz 6-3, 7-5.     Stellar pitching and strong defense have carried the Sisters High School Outlaws baseball team to a 7-2 record in league play. Coach Matt Hilgers said the team has prevailed in “some close, intense baseball” this spring.     The boys lacrosse squad travelled to Forest Grove (FG) on Friday, April 22, and defeated the Vikings 10-7. They were short players earlier in the week, and had to forfeit their game against Hillsboro. Gus Patton got the Outlaws’ scoring started with a goal in the first minute and a half of Friday’s game against the Vikings.     The magic of Hayward Field, followed by good competition at the Meet of Champions, helped many members of the Outlaws track-and-field team produce career bests last weekend.     The girls lacrosse squad opened their season with a vengeance — with four straight wins. They remain undefeated. They opened with a doubleheader at West Albany High School’s turf field, and matched up against Corvallis and West Albany.
