    The Outlaws made the trek south to Klamath Falls to take on the Mazama Vikings and the Klamath Union (KU) Pelicans in non-league match-ups on Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14. They defeated the Vikings 72-50 on Friday and then fell 72-64 the following day to KU. In the first quarter against the Vikings on Friday, the score stayed fairly even.     The Lady Outlaws traveled to Klamath Falls and beat 4A Mazama 64-44 on Friday, December 13, and a day later posted a 64-43 win over 4A Klamath Union (KU). Sisters jumped out quick in Friday’s contest against the Mazama Vikings and at the close of the quarter were on top 25-8.     The Outlaws traveled to Trinity Lutheran (TL) on Tuesday, December 10, where the teams battled back and forth in a nail-biting contest that went into overtime and ended in a 65-66 Outlaws’ loss. Sisters was evenly matched up against the TL Saints, a talented 2A squad that is a state contender at that level.     The Lady Outlaws posted a convincing 75-49 win on the road at Trinity Lutheran (TL) Tuesday, December 10. Audrey Corcoran took the tip off and opened the scoring with a shot from behind the arc. Corcoran continued to rack up the points due in large part to steals and break-away lay-ups. She was aggressive in the half-court game with driving shots to the rim and pull up jumpers.     In his third year as head coach, Dave Kemp has developed the largest team in recent history for the Sisters Outlaws - and the outlook is bright for both the boys and girls teams.     The Outlaws opened their preseason play with back-to-back wins; a 76-45 win over Santiam Christian (SC) at home on Thursday, December 5, and a day later a 68-65 win on the road at Cottage Grove (CG).     The Lady Outlaws started their preseason with a 62-29 win at home over Santiam Christian (SC) on Thursday, December 5, but the following day fell 54-48 on the road at Cottage Grove (CG). In Thursday’s action, freshmen Maddie Durham and Verbena Brent scored Sisters first points of the contest.     Seniors Shae Wyland and Ella Davis were named to all-state teams this year. The duo led the squad to a 8-4 league record and 9-5 overall. They also helped their team secure a bye in the first round of state playoffs. The Outlaws ultimately fell to Banks 1-0 in the second round. Wyland was named Second Team All-State Defender. She logged three assists over the season.     The Lady Outlaws return eight players to the varsity basketball squad, including Shae Wyland, Audrey Corcoran, Jorja Christianson, Paityn Cotner, Norah Thorsett, Emma Sahlberg, Holly Madron, and Althea Crabtree.     The Outlaws basketball squad is working hard to prepare for the tough competition they’ll face in the Mountain Valley Conference this season. They return five seniors to the squad, and bring on four newcomers to round out the roster, and hope to earn a berth to the state playoffs.     The Outlaws had 12 players earn all-league honors this season, including seniors Kayl Mock, Hudson Beckwith, Landen Scott, Kolbi Cotner, Kale Gardner, and Dawson Roberson. Beckwith was named first-team running back, defensive back, and first-team returner.     Five Outlaws soccer players earned all-league selection, including senior Micah Dachtler, who was a first team pick. Senior Danny Benson earned second team all league and seniors Cooper Merrill, Andrew Islas, and juniors Nick Palmer and Joseph Derksen were honorable mention.   • Runners compete at state meet

    The Outlaws' cross country teams wrapped up the 2024 season with the OSAA State Championships on Saturday, November 9, at Lane Community College in Eugene. The girls' team, which squeaked into the meet with a third place finish at District October 30, produced mixed results at State.     Sisters made the long trek to Lincoln City on Friday, November 8, and took on the Taft Tigers. The Outlaws battled back from a big first half deficit to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but were unable to keep the Tigers out of the endzone, and ultimately suffered a heart-wrenching 34-27 loss in the final minutes of the contest.     The Lady Outlaws had five volleyball players selected to all-league teams, including Kathryn Scholl and Holly Davis, who were first-team, all-league picks. Scholl finished league with 11.9 kills (first on the team), 1.7 aces, 7.4 digs, and 1.2 blocks per match this season.     The Lady Outlaws fought hard and played well against the No. 5 ranked Banks Braves, but fell 1-0 in round two of the 3A/2A/1A soccer state championships that were held Wednesday, November 6, at Hillsboro Stadium.     The Outlaws fell 2-0 at Siuslaw in a league playoff game on Tuesday, October 29, which brought their season to an end. Sisters fell earlier in the season to Siuslaw in a final score of 1-2 and felt good about their chances coming into this contest.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball team travelled to Horizon Christian (HC) in Tualatin on Wednesday, October 30, and beat the Hawks in three straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-15, in round one of the state playoffs.     In Friday night’s contest against Harrisburg on November 1, fans watched teams warm up in a torrential downpour that turned the field into a wet, muddy mess. At the start of the game, the rains stopped for the duration of the contest, but field conditions were still very slick and muddy.     The special district may have changed, but the result was the same for the third consecutive year as the Outlaws boys' cross country team won the district title in solid fashion on Wednesday, October 30, at Cheadle Lake Park in Lebanon.
