Special delivery: the North Pole

Sisters area children have until December 15 to write a letter to Santa Claus and receive a response again this year, according to Jim Fisher, executive director of the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.

Letters must be mailed before December 15 to allow time for a response before Christmas, Fisher said.

Santa letters should be addressed to Santa Claus, The North Pole, Sisters Post Office, Sisters, OR 97759. Letters may be deposited at the Sisters post office or may be placed in mail boxes within the Sisters mail delivery area. Letters must have first class postage to be delivered.

"Thanks to the special connections of Sisters Postmaster Jim Lowery, these letters will be forwarded to Santa Claus for a response," Fisher said. "Parents may wish to add a note with their child's letter to help guide this response."

The Santa letter service was initiated in 1991 by the chamber, in cooperation with the Sisters Post Office.
