According to police reports, the car got stuck in soft soil by Hartman's home on Squaw Creek Drive near Sisters. Hartman, 18, and a friend, 17-year-old Tyson Geil, tried to push the vehicle out but were not successful.
The pair went to Hartman's home to let the overheating car cool down.
Police reported that the 1985 Dodge Conquest's hot exhaust system ignited vegetation below the car. The car itself caught fire and burned completely.
Cloverdale Fire Protection District and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to the blaze.
