News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Where have all the flowers gone?

Someone is raiding flower pots and planters in Sisters.

Four businesses on the east end of town were struck by a flower thief or thieves over the August 24-25 weekend. Other businesses have, in the past few weeks, discovered holes in their planters or blank spots on the sidewalk where flower pots once sat.

The thief or thieves took $361.95 worth of artificial flowers, flower pots and ivy arrangements from outside display carts at Netties on Main Street. Thieves also dug 11 perennial plants valued at $55 out of a flower bed at Bill Campbell's accounting office just down the street and three potted plants worth $90 were stolen from Cliff Scharf's silversmith studio on Cascade Street.

Dave Goodwin at Sisters Real Estate also reported that several potted plants had been taken from the front of the building.

In past weeks the Post Office, The Nugget Newspaper and Paulina Springs Book Company have also lost planted flowers or flower pots to apparent theft.

Sisters police are investigating the thefts.
