After reading that the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce had canceled the parade this year due to small turnouts, Lee headed down to city hall and took out an event permit, bought insurance and set out to put on a parade.
The new parade will start promptly at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.
Lee, who is the restaurant manager at Black Butte Ranch, got together five volunteers who started contacting people who had been in the parade last year. Lee also recruited the high school band, the choir, the cross country team and the Central Oregon Co-op to participate.
"Everyone I've talked to about it has wanted to help or be in it," Lee said.
The theme of the parade is "Central Oregon Pride."
Lee said he was working to get the Sisters Outlaws state 3A champion volleyball team out for the parade and he wants to get the city's elected officials out in some classic cars.
Rick Evans of KQAK radio will emcee the event and Lee said the radio station will mention the parade on the air.
According to Lee, the parade will assemble on Pine Street, and march down Hood Avenue to Larch, then circle around on Washington Street to disperse at the Three Creeks Building.
The Chamber of Commerce tree lighting ceremony will be held at that spot immediately following the parade.
Lee said volunteers will put out flyers at local businesses to encourage residents and visitors to turn out for the event.
