News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Computer equipment in the Sisters Elementary School computer lab is inadequate and needs to be updated. Only 12 of the 24 computers in the lab are capable of running Windows and with only 24 computers, the lab cannot accommodate larger classes.
"Teaching students how to properly use a computer has become as important as teaching them how to read and write." said Deb Kollodge, a volunteer working in the school district computer lab. "Computers have become an essential part of our lives and any student lacking computer skills will be at a disadvantage."
The computer lab does not require state-of-the-art computers. It needs computers that are capable of running software that will challenge and educate children.
Donations to the computer lab may be delivered to the school administration building between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Donations are tax deductible, and pick-up is also available. For more information call Deb Kollodge, 549-1639 or Adrienne Van Bemmel at the Chamber of Commerce office, 549-0251.
