Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

Thank you so much to everyone who has stood by my family and I in these past months. Your love, concern and prayers have been very important. I have been overwhelmed by your goodness and generosity, but not surprised!

Thank you for all your hard work and kindness in putting on a bake sale in our behalf. For every way you are helping us in our journey, Thank You!

I thank my God for all of you. Our God is good!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Linda Gott

To the Editor:

I just wanted to thank Mr. Myrick for the letter that he wrote to The Nugget a couple of weeks ago. It isn't very often that we as bus drivers get praise for the job that we do.

I am very proud of Travis for doing a great job of crossing the road in front of the bus. It takes a great deal of training and practice to perfect exactly where we want the students to cross.

Then you have some people who totally disregard the red "student loading" lights on the front, side and rear of the buses. When this happens (and I know that I am speaking for all the other school bus drivers) I get a lump in my throat and hope and pray that all the training we have gone through will pay off.

The #1 concern that bus drivers have is the safety of the students. While watching the students, sometimes the red light runners get through and the driver doesn't always get the license plate number or a great description of the car. If we turn in a license number and get one letter or number wrong, they can't do anything about it.

If you see this happen, regardless if you are a parent or just a concerned citizen, please write the license plate down and turn it in. You can always call Dennis Levine at the bus barn.

Thank you again for the nice letter. I really do like my students and enjoy my job.

Sincerely yours,

Kathy Levine

To the Editor:

The Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District's Second Annual Halloween Open House was a huge success because of the cooperation and community spirit that abounds in Sisters.

Over 30 dozen cookies and 800 pieces of candy were consumed by the trick-or-treaters, (yes, toothbrushes were also provided), together with 30+ gallons of punch, coffee and cider.

The games and their treasures and the haunted house were a big hit, and we are designing new improvements for the haunted house next year.

A big thank you to the following for their contributions and donations: Janet from Bank of the Cascades, Robin at Ray's, the Inkwell, Sisters Bakery, members of the AARP, Hoyt's Hardware, Oregon Dept. of Forestry, Boyd's Coffee, Sisters High School Cheerleaders, Dentists Steve Spear and Tom Rheuben and all the fire department members.

Thank you for your help, as it is so greatly appreciated,

Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District
