Clifton and Dorothy Clemens celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, November 26.
"Our first date was on Thanksgiving day, 1930. The next Monday I bought a ring," said Clifton.
"It was a big diamond, too," said Dorothy.
"It cost me $75. I had to pay it off $5 a week. I bought it from Pomeroy and Keene. That store is still there," Clifton added.
When asked how they nurtured their marriage through all those years, Clifton said "We never fought. We have had some good discussions.
"The meanest thing I ever said to Dorothy was shut up, and I felt bad about that all day," said Clifton.
"Oh, I probably deserved it," said Dorothy, still forgiving.
What's the secret of staying friends for 65 years?
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret," Dorothy smiled.
