News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Ski Inn restaurant turns 25 years old on March 15. To celebrate, owner Lill Palmer is making a generous donation to the Sisters community that has supported her family for three generations.
Palmer is going to host a party on Saturday, March 15. And she is going to donate the gross proceeds to Sisters Habitat for Humanity.
That's right, every pancake, every shake, every burger and each fry sold will help house a Sisters family.
"I just thought it would be nice to do something for Habitat. Here in Sisters they are doing such a great job, and they can use all the help they could get. I just thought this would be a way of giving back to the community," Palmer said.
Lill's son Dan Palmer is the fourth of Lill's five sons to have worked at the Ski Inn since Palmer and her first husband bought the business in 1972. Nine of her 14 grandchildren have worked there off and on, Palmer said. (She also has four great grandchildren.)
As to the party on Saturday, Palmer said "We are going to have drawings for different prizes. Pepsi is providing a basketball stand and Star Wars T-shirts. I am going to make up some gift certificates for the drawings."
It should be a fun day, one that celebrates both the past and the future of Sisters.
