To the Editor:

Sisters has changed so much in the 16 years I've lived here, and it continues to change every year.

With all the changes, it seems that Sisters should have a museum to preserve photographs and artifacts from the "old days" so that we don't lose our historical identity.

A museum run by volunteers in one of our few remaining historic buildings would give residents and visitors the chance to see what Sisters was about. There are lots of people around town with old photographs and artifacts and I'm sure they would be happy to donate them to a public museum.

I'm told that the first step toward starting a museum is to form a historical society. Anyone interested in forming a historical society and creating a museum can call me at 549-6973 in the evenings.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Cara

To the Editor:

WOW! City of Sisters residents will get free pick up and disposal of pine needles and landscape debris. On April 23, 24 and 25, city employees Gary and Andy will pick up debris piles along city streets.

Deschutes County landfill will not be charging during the clean-up. This is an excellent chance to get your landscape cleaned up and keep our town's air clear of pine needle burning.

Most folks have already finished their clean-ups, but if you haven't there's still time. If you have a neighbor who happens to be gone, do them a favor with a quick rake job. They'll return the favor some day.

Let's take advantage of this great recycling program and keep our town clean and free of pine needle burning.

Sincerely,

Tim Clasen

To the Editor:

I think smoking can be a killer. Did you know that cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals including 43 different cancercausers?

Quitting can save your life. Three out of four teens that start smoking will die of smoke related disease. I think cigarettes should be an illegal drug because it is so bad for you. It may be very hard to quit because cigarettes are so high in nicotine. Because of that you can die. If you stop smoking now, right now, you can save your life.
