News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A Sisters woman was arrested after she allegedly collided with Deschutes County Sheriff Greg Brown's Ford Explorer on Highway 126 on Wednesday, June 25.
According to sheriff's reports, Brown was heading westbound on 126 at about 10:15 p.m. when Traci Gayle Scott, 24, overtook his unmarked vehicle at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass him in a no passing zone.
Scott allegedly swerved to the right and struck Brown's explorer in the left front end, sending both vehicles momentarily out of control.
According to the sheriff's department, Scott went into the ditch, recovered and continued westbound without stopping.
Sheriff Brown radioed 911 dispatch for assistance from a marked unit and continued to follow Scott at speeds over 80 miles per hour.
Scott allegedly turned off 126 onto George Cyrus Road and Brown activated his emergency lights in an effort to stop her. Scott reportedly pulled over at the intersection of George Cyrus and Jordan roads and a marked sheriff's unit arrived shortly thereafter.
Scott was taken into custody without incident. She was booked on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants with a reported blood alcohol content of .11 percent. She was also booked on charges of reckless driving, hit-and-run, and recklessly endangering another person.
Neither Brown nor Scott was injured in the incident.
