Golfers chip in for classroom raising

Golfers will enjoy a day on the greens in support of a good cause Friday, October 3, when the first Sisters Rotary Club Shoot-out hits the links at Black Butte Ranch.

"Every dime will go to the classroom raising project," said Rotarian Scott Lamoreaux.

That project has rallied the Sisters community to donate funds and construction expertise to add four new classrooms to Sisters Elementary School.

According to Lamoreaux, project leaders were contemplating a fund-raising golf tournament when they discovered that the Rotary Club of Sisters had an event in the works. The club and project volunteers decided to join and dedicate the Rotary tournament to the classroom project.

Fees for the tournament are $95 per player, which includes lunch, a round of golf, range balls and dinner.

Awards will be given to the top foursome in the Rotary flight, the Open flight and the Co-ed flight. There will be tee prizes, and raffle prizes as well as awards for the longest drive and the shot closest to the pin.

The Par 3 Hole is a treasure chest, with a $10,000 prize riding on a hole-in-one.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with assigned tee times between 9:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Registration is closed Friday, September 26. For more information contact Scott Lamoreaux, 549-1237, or Mike Bidasolo, 549-1616.
