To the Editor:

Well, Murphy's Law has kicked in big time. This letter is in regard to The Friends of the Sisters Library Tea Party, which was to be held on October 26 at Rags to Walkers Guest Ranch. You may have read our announcement in the September 24 issue of The Nugget.

Due to sudden and unforeseen circumstances way beyond our control, it will be necessary to find another location for the Tea Party. The owners of the Guest Ranch, who so graciously offered their lovely place, are as disappointed as we are.

I will say "postponed" rather than "canceled" for this project. So much enthusiastic planning by many dedicated people cannot be abandoned. We will pursue other venues and dates. We already had many reservations, those people will be notified and checks will be returned to those people who have paid for their tickets. Keep in touch, on with the show.

Regretfully,

Elayne Clarke, Tea Party Chair

To the Editor:

I want to thank all my neighbors on Ash Street, south of St. Helens, for disregarding the 25 MPH signs that were erected just in time to kill my mini Dachshund the following day.

One neighbor - a half a block away - must have thought the signs weere mandatory. Everyone else seems to be continuing their usual 15 or so MPH.

I've cased the town. These are the only ones I can find except for Pine and Elm.

Hood and Main are posted at 20 MPH. They are stop streets.

It was a miserable coincidence. The pup had never been in the street before. He didn't run in front of the car, he was just standing there. Three of us got to witness it. We couldn't move fast enough.

I've found a successor. He is black like my wire-haired Doxy, Judd. Judd was raised on Main Street.

Wish me luck.

Glory Daggett
