Lee resigns school board post

Karen Lee has resigned her school board position because she has moved outside school district boundaries, according to schools superintendent Steve Swisher.

Although she plans to move back into the school district, Swisher said, she is now ineligible to serve.

Swisher said that the school board will appoint a substitute to serve the remaining two years of Lee's term. According to Swisher, the board will likely solicit inquiries from those interested and appoint a new member from among those candidates.

Lee's departure will leave the board with three brand new members including the next appointee. Steve Keeton and Jeff Smith were elected to the board March 9; Keeton was appointed to the his seat early to replace the departed Harold Gott.

Guy Gleason was elected to continue his service on the board after serving in an appointed position.

Bill Reed continues to serve on the board.
