News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A 14-year-old Sisters youth was arrested after Deschutes Country Sheriff's deputies allegedly caught him burglarizing Leavitt's Western Wear about midnight on Monday, April 6.
According to sheriff's department reports, a deputy responded to the scene and spotted a broken window on the east side of the building. When he looked through another window, he allegedly spotted Aaron McPherson carrying clothing in the store. McPherson allegedly threw a coat out the broken window and attempted to crawl out after it.
The deputy reportedly pointed his pistol at McPherson and ordered him to stop. The youth then allegedly fled back into the store.
The deputy called for back-up, and a Black Butte Ranch police officer responded to the scene. That officer was stationed at the broken window, while the deputy went around to the west side of the building and shined his flashlight inside.
According to sheriff's department reports, McPherson bolted for the broken window, crawled through, and was apprehended by the Black Butte Ranch officer.
The sheriff's deputy reportedly found a pack of cigarettes in McPherson's possession and smelled alcohol on the youth's breath. McPherson reportedly appeared to go into a seizure, so the deputy summoned an ambulance, which took the youth to St. Charles Medical Center. A doctor examined him and told the deputy that McPherson was intoxicated but otherwise fine.
According to sheriff's department reports, McPherson's blood-alcohol content was .13 percent.
McPherson was released into the custody of his mother after being arrested on charges of second degree burglary, second degree theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest and cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol and tobacco.
