News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Two Sisters boys were cited by sheriff's deputies, after they allegedly did major damage to a house and outbuildings east of Sisters.
Charles Ryan Trego, 13, and Justin Jeffrey Evans, 12, were cited for first degree criminal mischief, a Class C felony.
According to sheriff's reports, the youths admitted to throwing rocks through the windows of a small house, then entering the house and kicking in doors, smashing holes in the walls and breaking a toilet with a baseball bat.
"They basically just thrashed the place," said Sergeant Rich Shawver of the Sisters sheriff's station.
Shawver said the house was being refurbished.
"There was a lot of electrical work in there - recent electrical work - that they smashed," he said.
The boys also allegedly broke out the windows of a barn and a garage, tipped over appliances that were stored in the barn and smashed a live electrical panel with a concrete block.
The incidents allegedly occurred on April 14. Evans' mother rents a separate house on the property, known as the Workman homestead, near Oregon Log Homes.
According to Shawver, the property owner discovered and reported the damage on Friday, May 8.
Shawver investigated, and discovered shoe prints in the vicinity of the damaged buildings. According to sheriff's reports, Evans' mother later discovered that her son's shoes matched the prints and reported it to the police.
Shawver noted that burglary charges could be added to the criminal mischief charge.
