Several badly hurt in Highway 20 wreck

A wreck at the intersection of Cloverdale Road and Highway 20 sent four people to the hospital with moderate to very serious injuries Monday afternoon, May 18.

According to sheriff's department reports, the accident occurred when an eastbound 1990 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by Dan McManus, 31, of Redmond, started to make a left turn onto Cloverdale Road in front of a westbound car driven by Steven R. Breckheimer, 28, of Salem.

The vehicles collided nearly head on, with Breckheimer's 1998 Mercury Tracer spinning onto the westbound shoulder of the highway.

Breckheimer had to be cut out of the car with the jaws of life. He was transported by Air Life to St. Charles Medical Center in serious condition.

Also airlifted was a rear-seat passenger, Rosalie A. Breckheimer, 53, also of Salem. She suffered a complete amputation of her right arm in the accident.
