Sisters community assists fire victims

Dan and Kelley McVey and their children were left with nothing but their car and the clothes on their backs by a fire that gutted their home at 435 N. Tamarack on Tuesday, May 12.

According to Sisters' fire chief Don Mouser, "the most probable cause was a flue fire."

Mouser said "they had a fire in the stove that morning," a fire which, Mouser said, was apparently left burning when the McVey's left the house.

The Sisters community has rallied to support the McVey's. According to Sisters area resident Robin Elder, residents and business have been quick to donate everything from gas to food.

"It's a sweet town to live in," Elder said. Elder noted that the McVeys can use donations of clothing or "anything people can give would be great."

An account in Dan McVey's name has been set up for the family's assistance at U.S. Bank (1810065613).
