Local scholarships boost students

Local scholarships provided a total of over $40,000 to graduating seniors from the class of 1998, according to counselor Charles Kanzig.

"It's tremendous the level of support our graduates get from the community," he said. "Not only is the money of practical help, the encouragement and honor the students feel is very important."

Scholarships are as follows:

21st Century Teacher, Kylene Hayes, Jacob Rothauge - $2,500 renewable; Bend Memorial Clinic, Amber Leis - $1,000; Mid-Oregon Federal Credit Union, Andrea Culver - $500;

Sisters/Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection General Scholarship, Sara Comfort, Sara Haynes, Mary Ferguson, Mandy Davis - $500;

Sisters Alumni, Jon Justin, Shelly Greene - $500;

Sisters Kiwanis, Amber Leis, Andrea Culver - $1,000;

Sisters Rotary, Sara Haynes - $1,500.

Multnomah Publishing (a total of $14,000 to this year's graduates) - J.T. Bushnell, Heidi Shultz, Joscylyn Snyder, Jon Justin, Dana DeKay, Sara Haynes, Beth Golden, Kallan Dailey, Kim DeKorte, Amber Leis, Leigh Hoagland, Katie Patterson;

Small Farmer's Journal Visual Art, Brooke Morgan - $500;

Kevin Johnson Memorial, Stephen Brobeck, Jacob Rothauge - $1,000;

Sisters Booster Club, Katie Patterson, Jacob Rothauge - $1000;

Sisters Rodeo, Noelle Mackey, Sara Comfort - $1,500;

SEA Faculty Award, J.T. Bushnell, Jenny Crofoot - $500;

SSA Scholarships, Casey Johnson, Rochelle Buchser - $500;

Elks Foundation, Amber Leis - $250, Dana DeKay - $500;

Deshutes County Fair and Rodeo, Erin Deggendorfer - $1,000;

Crooked River Ranch Scholarship, Andrea Culver - $500;
