Man jailed for assault, resisting arrest

Sisters sheriff's deputies arrested a 25-year-old local man on Friday, July 31, after he allegedly assaulted two officers when they responded to a reported domestic dispute.

The deputies responded to the report at 18130 Wanoga Lane, where the man and his wife were house-sitting. The woman, who is the sister of one of the responding deputies, reported that her husband had assaulted her and she had locked herself inside the house. The man was allegedly trying to get in.

The woman's brother called for assistance and another deputy took the lead in the incident.

According to police reports, the man "appeared intoxicated," and repeatedly threatened both officers. After the man allegedly pushed both officers, a deputy told him he was under arrest and attempted to take him into custody. The deputies reported that the man resisted, kicking punching and grabbing both officers.

The two deputies and the man ended up in a melee on the ground, and one of the deputies finally subdued the man with pepper spray.

Both officers uniforms were torn up, and one reported that his hand and elbow were cut. The man was taken to jail on charges of fourth degree assault, assaulting a public safety officer, menacing, harassment, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
