News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
To the Editor:
Who is Sisters, city hall, the people, who? In 1994, Joseph Fought gave a $500,000 building, (the bowling alley) to the city. I strongly feel that the money that was made from the sale of the old bowling alley, should be used to build a pool or a recreation center.
Please, people of Sisters, do not let the gift Mr. Fought gave us, (the people) be only used by a few, (city hall) but by the many; let there be a pool. We should not waste this opportunity.
I do not believe that there has been a workshop involving the old bowling alley or what to do with the money made from its sale. I find this alarming. Let us ask our new city counsel to hold some workshops to decide what to do with the money. A pool would be nice.

The Kiwanis Club of Sisters wishes to thank all the businesses and individuals who supported our "First Annual" Rummage Sale last week.
To those who donated items for the sale, and to all who made purchases, we have special gratitude. You helped us reach a total of nearly $2,500 to use to the benefit of Kiwanis-supported children and youth programs in Sisters. Thank you all.
Start saving items for next year! We'll keep you posted.

I feel that individual Republicans should have to cough up the millions of dollars they have cost us in their zealous efforts to get Bill Clinton.
They began before he officially announced his candidacy. All I knew of him was that he had been named the most effective governor in the country by the rest of the governors. This alerted the Republicans to his possible intentions and the smear was on.
I received a newsletter outlining his sexual activities seven or eight years ago. I was repulsed. It was my introduction to sexual McCarthyism. It hasn't let up in seven years. Possibly we can just check it off to entertainment. However, the effort to dismantle the Constitution has scared the hell out of me! It seems we have a fourth branch of government. Judicial, Congressional, Executive and the Office of Independent Counsel. It used to be under the Judicial, now it has more teeth than the President.
Forty million was spent chasing Whitewater. Try adding up the various accusations and investigations since.
Paula Jones' lawyers dumped her. The Rutherford Institute, who has funded her, found a new batch of lawyers. Poor Paula, she claims her one encounter so traumatized her that she can't have sexual relations. Her three children must be the result of immaculate conception.
Kathleen Willy spent an hour on "60-Minutes." Maybe she could have sustained 20 minutes but I began laughing. Finally, they found Monica - the poor little rich girl from Beverly Hills. Why did her mother move her to the Watergate Hotel? It is very handy to the White House.
This is what has occupied the House of Representatives for over a year. We are the laughing stock of the rest of the world. They still respect Bill Clinton as one of the greatest presidents we've ever had. This because of his accomplishments both at home and abroad.
I hope the Blue Dress winds up in the Smithsonian as a symbol of Republican tenacity.
