To the Editor:

Target shooters: This letter is directed to all who use the lot behind Lazy Z, off of Highway 126 for target practice.

Here in Central Oregon there are becoming limited places to go to shoot. Even limiting ourselves more are those who use the areas and abuse them by not picking up after themselves.

An example is the lot behind Lazy Z, off of Highway 126 which is a very convenient location for all shooters to enjoy. But, in recent times I have noticed a lot of garbage piling up from inconsiderate users of public land. Therefore, I'm writing this letter to make people aware that our public lands are a privilege that will probably be taken away from us if it is continually abused.

I am volunteering my time and the use of my equipment (trailer) to clean this location and remove the materials to Fryrear Dump. If anyone would like to help clean up please contact me, or meet at the location on Highway 126, across from Tewalts Country Garden on Saturday, March l3 at 9 a.m.

Thank you,

Jerry Willis

I am a teacher at Sisters Middle School and am excited about some of the things that are happening. One thing specifically is that a group of three students were chosen to go to Europe this summer with an organization called People to People. This experience is truly a rare opportunity. One that may never be presented to these students again. I know this from experience.

When I was in school, I, too, was chosen to go overseas. Raising money for my trip was not easy, and I ended up falling short of my financial goal. I was devastated. Needless to say, I was unable to go, and a similar opportunity has never surfaced since. Because of this, I feel strongly about helping these students.

Please consider supporting this educational experience. Rikki Glick, Kala Bafford, and Kiersten Brown are all students who work hard at being successful. You can send contributions to the Sisters School Foundation.

Thank you,

Laura Saunders

To the Editor:

I should like to take this oportuity to tell all my friends, neighbors and co-workers how much their love and support during my recent illness has meant to me.

I want to thank them for the flowers and food; for their care and caring; for the gifts, cards and calls; for pickling up my mail, running errands, spending the night so I wouldn't be alone.

For giving my daughter and son peace of mind when they had to leave to get back to their jobs.

What a wonderful community to live in. I love you all. With heartfelt thanks,

Dorothy "Dottie" Yurgel
