News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Elementary School will host students and their families for a series of school grounds improvement projects in the third annual "Clean the Green" work day.
This year's projects will include adding a gravel walkway next to the primary wing; repainting the playground games; revamping the climbing/slide structure; installing a new basketball hoop; planting flowers; and other smaller projects.
Event co-chair Sally Blust said the program needs volunteers, but donations of cash, flowers and landscape materials are also welcome.
"We've got a lot of things we'd like to accomplish in a short period of time," Blust said. "We need all the help we can get."
A number of Sisters businesses have already contributed to the project.
Sisters Elementary School principal Tim Comfort emphasized the program's past success in enhancing the school grounds.
"We've had significant improvement of our school grounds each year," explained Comfort.
"The plantings installed in the front of the school building two years ago are flourishing. Parents have made a big contribution, and a big difference."
"Clean the Green" will take place Saturday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to noon at Sisters Elementary School.
Cash donations can be delivered to the Sisters Elementary School office. Phone Sally Blust at 549-7431 for more information.
