News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Kindergarten registration and screening have been set for Friday, May 21, at Sisters Elementary School.
Parents and school officials will make get youngsters registered to enter school for next September. Screeners will make sure children's immunizations are complete and the child is ready to start school.
School officials will review parental observations and impressions and prior and present screening information in order to plan for each student.
Parents may contact the Sisters Elementary School office to set up an appointment.
According to elementary school principal Tim Comfort, appointments will help school officials make the most of parents' time in the screening.
We have made some changes in the process to cut down the time over last year," Comfort noted.
Comfort said that registration information is critical in order to plan how many kindergarten sessions will be offered and what type of kindergartens to offer.
"We are currently planning on offering both the half-day kindergarten program and the full- day kindergarten program," Comfort said. "Parents pay partial tuition in the full-day program. Information about these choices will be available at the screening and through our school office."
Parents who believe that their child is developmentally advanced may inquire about early entry, Comfort said. Early entry children must be five years old before October 30.
