Sisters Chamber plans 1999 auction

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 1999 annual fund-raising auction on August 11, at Conklin's Guest House. Conklin's was also the site of the 1998 auction, which was the most successful auction the chamber has ever held, according to manager Mardyth Peterson.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties, both prior to the auction and the night of the auction itself. Individuals volunteering for the auction are able to attend the event free of charge.

Beginning in early June, a volunteer from the auction committee will contact businesses and individuals for donations for the auction. In addition, this year the chamber will do "swaps" of weekend packages with other chambers and will offer getaways to other areas.

Local artists are encouraged to donate to the auction.

The auction will include a western style barbecue dinner, live entertainment, silent and oral auctions and a raffle. Bob Grooney will repeat his role of auctioneer. Ticket prices are $12.50 per person and can be purchased at the chamber, 164 N. Elm St.

Anyone interested in donating an item for the auction can contact the Chamber office, 549-0251.
