Sisters set for annual quilt display

Over 800 quilts will adorn buildings throughout Sisters on Saturday, July 10, as the town celebrates the 24th annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

The day of quilt-sharing will feature quilts from Central Oregon and all over the United States. Kathe Sabine of Redmond and Tonye Phillips of Camp Sherman are this year's featured local quilters.

Sabine will be located at the Three Creeks Building on the corner of Ash Street and Hood Avenue. Phillips will be across Ash Street on the grass at Ponderosa Properties.

Quilt show visitors often arrive as much as a week early in Sisters to participate in "Quilter's Affair," a week-long series of workshops, lectures, classes and evening quilting programs.

Visitors may also take the Sisters Garden Club garden tour on Thursday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour was added to last year's festivities and proved popular enough to be staged again this year.

Camp Sherman's Pineneedlers will offer their own quilt show at the Camp Sherman Community Hall, Friday, July 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On the day of the show itself, volunteers will rise early to string quilts along storefronts and the walls of businesses up and down Cascade, Hood and Main avenues and along the side streets of town. The show runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A quilt contest based on the poster theme "Cascade of Quilts" will be held at the Town Square at the east wall of Soda Creek Gallery.

A quilt raffle will also be held at that location.
