Mountain Shadows to build road hookup

The new planned unit development at The Pines has triggered a road-building project for Mountain Shadows RV Park.

The park must build a road on 60 feet of dedicated right-of-way from Highway 20 to the south edge of the park property, according to city planner Neil Thompson.

The road will be part of a connection from The Pines to Highway 20. Mountain Shadows was to build its part of the road as a condition of approval for the park's site plan. The city council agreed to let Mountain Shadows owner Wayne Scott defer the work "until such time as the city deemed it necessary," according to Thompson.

"Basically, now the city deems it necessary," Thompson said.

The planner said the work is to be completed by the end of August.

"We've already started insofar as we've got the design and the engineering work done," said Mountain Shadows manager Tom Anderson. "As far as the physical construction goes, I don't know (when it will begin)."

While the new road's primary purpose is to serve The Pines development, it will eventually contribute to a larger road network west of Sisters.

"It's a piece to a puzzle that gets us out to the high school at some point," Thompson said.
